Ballet

This form is the basis for all dance. It's technique is elaborate and formal characterized by it's lines, structure, precision, fluiaity, and grace.

*Dancers must wear pink ballet shoes, leotard and tights. Ballet skirts are optional.   

Jazz  

A dance using ballet technique with turns, jumps, isolations, and flexability to fast music. 

*Dancers must wear tan jazz shoes, leotards and tights. Jazz pants and booty shorts are optional.  

Tap

A dance performed with sharp, loud, taps of the foot, toe, or heel to create a rhythm. 

*Dancers must wear tan tap shoes, leotards and tights. Jazz pants and booty shorts are optional. 

Pointe

A more advanced form of ballet performed on the tip of the toes with special shoes.

*Dancers must wear pink pointe shoes, leotard and tights. Ballet skirts are optional. Dancers who wish to do pointe must be at least 13 years of age and have 2 years ballet experience. They also must have permission from their teacher. 

Hip Hop 

An urban dance that combines poping, locking, breaking, and rocking.

*dancers may wear clothing of their choice (within reason). No jeans please.

Lyrical

A form of dance meant to interpret the lyrics and emotion of the music. It mixes techniques from modern, jazz, and ballet.

*Dancers must wear tan footundies or lyrical sandles, leotard and tights. Ballet skirts or booty shorts are optional. 

Contemporary

Was created as a rebellion against the riggid technique of ballet this form explores movements from modern and African dancing.

*Dancers must wear leotard and tights. Jazz pants and booty shorts are optional. Class is done in bare feet. 

Acro 

Develops strength and flexibility for performing tricks. It involves tumbling and floor exercises.

*Dancers must wear black jazz shoes, leotard and tights. Jazz pants and booty shorts are optional.

Theater Jazz

This is a style of jazz dance done in the theater such as on Broadway where dancers must take on a character.

*Dancers must wear tan jazz shoes, leotards and tights. Jazz pants and booty shorts are optional.
